Relief your body with Bajra khichdi and Hariyali Kadhi after Diwali

Bajra Khichdi with Hariyali Kadhi


Diwali "festival of light" is most celebrate festival in India especially northern region of India. This festival is celebrate for over 4 days. It starts with Dhan Teras and ends with Bhai dooj. All these 4-5 days, people prepare or buy sweets and gift their close ones. At homes, People consume heavy food like Poori, Chole, Sweets, Paratha so on. These foods are good for taste but creates problem for our body. The celebration also consist cracking fireworks which creates pollution.
After consuming heavy foods and sweets, people are found infected with different disease especially IBS, Diarrhea, Ingestion, Vomiting, Allergies, Asthma or chest problem, B.P.
Its good to avoid heavy foods and firecrackers but its quite difficult. 
Here we are presenting the recipe which can be consumed after the day of Diwali. Its easy to prepare and helps to clean the body.


Bajra Khichdi


Ingredients
Whole bajra (Pearl Millets) - 2 cups soaked over night
Fresh matar (Green Peas) - 1/2 Cup
Green moong dal - 1/2 cup soaked over night
Cloves (laung) - 3 to 4
Cumin seeds (jeera) - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida (hing) - a pinch
Turmeric powder (haldi) - 1/4 teaspoon
Pure ghee - 1 teaspoon ( I mean it when I say pure. check out my next post on pure ghee)
Salt to taste
Water - 5 cups



Method
Grind the bajra into a coarse mixure. Wash the dal thoroughly. Heat the ghee in a vessel and add the cloves and cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds crackle, add the asafoetida, add the turmeric powder, salt and water . Add dal, bajra and green peas. Cook it on a medium flame. When the mixture begins to boil start stirring so that the khichdi does not stick to the bottom of the vessel. Cook until the bajra is soft. You may add more water if you feel that the consistency of the khichdi is not right. Serve hot with Hariyali Kadhi.


Hariyali Kadhi




Ingredients
1 cup low fat curds (dahi)
2 tbsp besan (Bengal gram flour)
1 cup chopped spinach (palak)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp oil
salt to taste



Method
In a bowl, add the curds, gram flour and 1 cup of water and whisk till the mixture is smooth. Keep aside. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan, and add the cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the onions, ginger-chilli paste, turmeric powder and chilli powder and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the curds mixture, salt and sugar and allow it to come to a boil, while stirring continuously. Add the spinach and serve hot with Bajra khichdi and a bowl of salad.


Advantage


It will nourish your body. Bajra and Spinach is good source of Iron. Bajra is good source of Vitamin B1 and Fiber. Dal and Yogurt is good source of protein. Altogther is the light food to keep your body clean.

Reduce Cholesterol with Paratha !!!



Spring Onion Paratha


Now a days, its common to high cholesterol, Blood Pressure and Constipation. This is due to the our bad lifestyle. We do not get up on time and sleep on time, we don't take healthy diet, don't do exercises. We love to eat food which suits are taste not body like Parathas, Pizzas, Junk foods, oily food, Spicy food.

In India, eating any kind of Parathas is common in the morning as breakfast. Parathas are high energy/Caloric food. A single paratha gives around 500 Calories. In India, a person generally consume at-least 3-4 parathas in the morning.

In earlier days, eating parathas were fine because of hectic physical activity through out the day but in Modern era when person doesn't have any physical activity, consuming parathas are not advisable. This can cause high Cholesterol, Weight gain and other diseases.

We are presenting the parathas which is not high caloric food, tasty and easy to digest too.

Ingredients


4 Spoon -              Whole Wheat Flour
1 Spoon -              Oats
4 Spoon -              Spring Onion leaves
3 Spoon -              Low fat Yogurt/Curd
1/4 teaspoon -       Jeera Powder/Cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon -       Garlic paste
1/4 teaspoon -       oil (Sunflower)
1/4 teaspoon -       Methi dana powder (Fenugreek seeds powder)
Salt to taste (Use rock salt instead of sea salt) Hindi - Sendha namak used in fasting.

Preparation


Mix all the ingredients and prepare soft dough with help of water. Keep a side for 10 min. Take small portion of dough and make Roti, Phulka, Tortila.
Bake it on the tawa/flat pan on medium flame. Spread oil on it.
Serve Spring Onion Paratha with low fat yogurt/curd, Green chutney, Onion.

Advantages


Garlic paste/High fiber wheat flour/Fenugreek seeds and Oats is known to reduce the cholesterol. Cumin powder and Fenugreek seeds improves the digestion. Curd/yogurt, Fenugreek seeds, wheat flour provides the necessary protein. Oil provides necessary oil in the body.

It is good for those who have high Cholesterol, Obese, High B.P, constipation and heart problems

Karwa Chauth - Healthy Ayurveda Receipe

This is one day festival celebrated in the northern region of India. On this day, married females keep fast from sunrise until moonrise for longevity of their husbands. Females break fast after seeing moon and than their husband face.

Karva is another word for diya (a small earthen oil-lamp) and chauth means 'fourth' in Hindi (a reference to the fact that the festival falls on the fourth day of the dark-fortnight, or krishna paksh, of the month of Kartik).

This is also important from Ayurveda point of view. This changes the routine of the body functioning. Occasional fasting relax and cleanse the body. Several metabolic adjustments occur during fasting, and some diagnostic tests are used to determine a fasting state. For example, a person is assumed to be fasting after 8–12 hours. Metabolic changes toward the fasting state begin after absorption of a meal (typically 3–5 hours after a meal). Extended fasting has been recommended as therapy for various conditions by health professionals of most cultures, throughout history, from ancient to modern.

One should have to take care of the diet when fasting or when fasting is over. Eating light food is preferable. We are presenting the Broken Wheat Kheer which is not only delicious but easy to digest.

Broken Wheat Kheer
Ingredients
Broken wheat 1 cup
Water 2 1/2 cup
Jaggery or brown sugar 1 cup
Cornflour 2 tsp
Cardamoms powder 2 tsp
Coconut milk, from one cup freshly grated coconut

Method:
Prepare broken wheat in dry grinder. Then cook broken wheat in pressure cooker, with water, till very soft. It normally takes about 8 minutes. Add jaggery/brown sugar to nearly boiling cooked wheat and let simmer for a minute more, uncovered, stirring all the time to avoid burning. Remove from heat. Mix coconut milk with cornflour and add to porridge on the low flame. Allow it to almost boil but do not keep boiling for any length of time. Add cardamom powder, and serve hot or cold.

Advantages

It has coconut milk which keep body cool, milk provides protein, Wheat provide Protein and carbohyradrates for instant energy. Fiber in Wheat keeps your intastine healthy.
Brown sugar/Jaggery is natural form of sugar. So, gives instant energy.

Detoxification of body at home

Detoxify or Die
Dry Massage is the traditional Ayurveda and Naturopathy therapy. This is easiest form of cleansing therapy and free of cost. It refreshes & stimulates the skin and lymphatic system, enhancing blood circulation and the release of accumulated toxins.

The ideal time to perform therapy is in the morning 5-10 minutes before bath. There is no need of any instrument.

How to perform:

1, You need to massage your body excluding your face, Heart.
2, Start with your head, with the help of finger tips massage your head in the circular motion.
3, come down to neck, massage your neck in the circular motion with your palm. start massaging your hand, empty stomach and then chest with long strokes.
4, Massage your thigh, legs, buttocks. Each part of the body should be massaged.
5, Use hot water to bath and then cold, again hot and then cold..continue until 5 times.

Precaution:

1, Don't massage heart area and face.
2, Don't put hot water on head and face.

Advantage:

1, This refreshes and stimulates the skin.
2, This gives relief from constipation.
3, This improves the complexion.
4, This removes the toxins from the body.
5, This improves the blood circulation.
